Battle Treasures is HERE!

Battle Treasures is HERE!
When Amazing War Stories Ambassador Jason Fox and the legend himself Bruce Crompton come together, you just know military history magic is about to happen.
These two don’t just talk about history – they live it. And in their brand-new TV series Battle Treasures, airing on Sky HISTORY from Tuesday 28 October at 8.30pm, they set out to uncover some of the world’s rarest military artefactsand the extraordinary human stories behind them.
The Past, Reborn
Each episode of Battle Treasures dives into three extraordinary objects – from Viking swords and medieval daggers to Cold War assassination gadgets and Saddam Hussein’s gold-plated gun.
Foxy brings his front-line soldier’s eye; Bruce adds his lifetime of collecting, curating and preserving history. Together they do what Amazing War Stories has always set out to do – connect us to the people behind the objects.
“These artefacts aren’t just bits of metal or wood,” says Foxy. “They were carried, fought with and depended on by real people. When you handle them, you feel that connection instantly.”
“Every dent, scratch and mark tells a story that shaped our world,” adds Bruce. “Our job is to bring those stories back to life.”
Highlights from the New Sky HISTORY Series
Across six packed episodes, Battle Treasures showcases world-famous and never-before-seen relics:
A Viking sword discovered on the Essex coast
Sir John Moore’s presentation sword of honour from the Napoleonic Wars
A German STG44, the world’s first true assault rifle
A rare AK-47 signed by Mikhail Kalashnikov
A cornet recovered from the Battle of Isandlwana, carrying a haunting family story
Bruce recalls:
“When you hold something like that cornet, you’re holding a piece of someone’s life — and their sacrifice. That’s what makes this series so special.”
Why Collectors Matter
Not everything you’ll see in Battle Treasures comes from a museum. Many artefacts come from private collectors – passionate people who dedicate their lives to keeping our military history alive.
“Collectors are the unsung heroes,” Bruce says. “So many great museum pieces started in private hands. Without those collectors researching and protecting them, we’d lose whole chapters of our story.”
That’s exactly what we believe here at Amazing War Stories: that history survives only when it’s cared for – by curators, collectors, and everyone who keeps these treasures safe.
More Than Just Kit
For Foxy, these artefacts aren’t just hardware; they represent the courage, fear and resilience of the people who used them.
“As a soldier, your kit becomes part of you,” he says. “You rely on it, you bleed on it, and when you see something from another era, you can almost feel what those soldiers went through.”
“That’s why this show works,” says Bruce. “Foxy’s used the modern versions of what we’re showing. I’ve spent my life finding them. Together we make the human story real again.”
Keeping History Alive
At Amazing War Stories, that’s exactly why we do what we do. Every museum saved, every artefact restored, every story told – it all matters. Because history only survives when we keep it alive.
So join us – and the unstoppable duo of Foxy and Bruce – for Battle Treasures, premiering Tuesday 28 October at 8.30pm on Sky HISTORY and HISTORY Play.
And for those outside the UK, good news: Battle Treasures will also appear soon on the Amazing War Stories YouTube channel. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled – or better yet, sign up to our newsletter for updates on new episodes, behind-the-scenes clips, and exclusive AWS content.
